picture of the MJX 14210
The world of remote controlled cars is vast and exciting. Every month, a new RC car is released and paraded as the ultimate car, only to be superseded several months later.

Among the multitude of RC models available, the MJX 14210 stands out as a RC truck that has lived up to the hype and has stood the test of time, still comfortably claiming the top spot in the 1/14 scale category two years after initial release.

In this MJX Hyper Go 14210 review, we will delve into all aspects of this model which make it unique in the current RC car market. We'll explore the styling and usability, as well as the more technical side of things like motor type, electronics, drive chain, suspension and of course upgrade parts.

The MJX 14210 being reviewed is the latest version 3 model, released late 2024. We'll take you through some of the updates MJX have made with the latest 14210 Hyper Go and also offer our advice on which package or configuration to go for to best fit your requirements and experience.
Unboxing the MJX Hyper Go 14210 V3
Unboxing the MJX 14210 is an experience itself. It's surprising how the truck, controller and accessories can fit in such a compact sized box. The packaging used is sturdy with large colourful graphics of the trucks and electronic components.

Here's what you will find in the MJX 14210 box:

  • MJX Hyper Go 14210 RC Truck
  • Remote control
  • Battery and a matching USB charger (either 2S or 3S LiPo battery)
  • Instruction manual
  • Tool wrench and alen (hex) keys
  • Wheelie bar
  • Extra body shell and wing/spoiler
  • Extra set of wheels (paddle tyres)
  • Spare parts (front suspension arms)

The inclusion of extra parts likes a spare set of wheels/tires, suspension springs, extra body shell and essential tools is a rather nice touch by MJX and certainly not something we see with other manufacturers. The hex / allen key and wheel wrench is of basic quality, but should help with basic maintenance and repairs.
MJX 14210 Appearance and Style
The MJX Hyper Go 14210 boasts a sleek, modern design that captures attention instantly. With a fairly low profile and wide stance, the 14210 has a naturally aggressive look to it. A nice touch is that MJX include two body shells in the box; a bright gold shell and stealthy black shell.

Determining which colour body shell looks best on the MJX 14210 is a tough choice; the gold really stands out without look tacky, whereas has a stealth look and contracts nicely against the wheels.picture of the MJX 14210 Truck
From the rear of the MJX 14210 we see the the wing and wheelie bar. The wheelie bar is included in the box but is not installed. Secured by two screws, fitting the wheelie bar is a simple task and completed within a minute.

MJX 14210 Design and Build Quality

A black 6061 aluminium alloy chassis is the foundation of the 14210. Metal is an interesting choice for the chassis material since all other MJX vehicles, like the 10208 and 16208 series feature a plastic honeycomb style chassis. The MJX 14210 chassis feels strong and appears well designed. It has an attractive finish and is quite rigid, but doesn’t feel fragile and doesn't flex under load.
UPDATE - Since the release of the version 3 MJX 14210, all hardware has been changed over to the hex variety. This is a welcome change from previous Philips type. This includes the hex variety being used for all under-chassis screws, which are also countersunk into the chassis to not catch on anything whilst moving.

Throughout the 14210, high-quality plastics are used with a good balance of flexibility and strength. Although not unbreakable, plastic parts should be better placed to withstand impacts with view that the part will bend, or flex rather than snap.

A large red support brace is installed centrally to minimise play and support the front and rear shock towers. This central brace is key to providing a stable platform and really noticeable with the way the MJX 14210 handles landings from jumps.

As with all MJX models, the Hyper Go 14210  uses quality drive chain components throughout. The front CVD style drive shafts are chunky and resemble something usually found on larger scale trucks. This heavy duty approach is typical MJX, aimed at making the truck durable from the get-go without the need to upgrade anything.

Industry standard 12MM hex adaptors are also utilised which supports a wide choice of aftermarket wheels.
At the rear, the MJX 14210 incorporates telescopic CVD style drive shafts. These telescopic drive shafts are unique and not something commonly seen. They were introduced as part of the updated V2 model back in 2023. Again, aligning with MJXs approach of being tough and durable, these telescopic CVD shafts are very chunky and made from quality steel. The body shells included with the MJX Hyper Go 14210 are good quality with reinforced with protective side plates on the roof. Body shells are never indestructible, but with the reinforcement plates MJX have installed it should hep provide vital protection against inevitable impacts.picture of MJX 14210 body shell protection
The pre-installed tyres on the MJX 14210 are of an excellent quality. A soft to medium rubber compound is used with a deep tread pattern, resulting in a very, very grippy tyre. The MJX Hyper Go 14210 features an adjustable, responsive suspension setup. The oil-filled shock absorbers play a crucial role in enhancing handling and stability by absorbing shocks effectively. This allows the truck to maintain control over various terrains.

The four shock absorbers are pre-filled with oil and incorporate adjustable collars to increase/decrease spring tension. The shock absorbers are alloy capped but do have a plastic body. Overall, they operate well and provide decent dampening performance. Even after numerous jumps and rough landings, they remain intact and reliable.

MJX 14210 Motor and ESC

The MJX 14210 is an absolute powerhouse for it's size. The motor installed is a 2582 size 4400kv brushless motor, a motor which you could say is slightly over-sized for a 1:14. This motor delivers impressive torque and feels well-balanced with the factory fitted 45 amp electronic speed controller (ESC).

The 4400kv motor speed is well suited to the 14210 and delivers impressive stats. We've recorded 47 MPH on 3S 11.1V batteries and 36 MPH on 2S 7.4v. The motor is finished with a heat sink and integrated cooling fan to aid temperature management.

The ESC (model E45AZ) supports both 2S 7.4V and 3S 11.1V batteries.  Although the 14210 is better suited to running 2S batteries (more on that later), it has no trouble running 3S technically and maintains tolerable operating temperatures. Like the motor, a cooling fan is installed on the top of the ESC. The fan on both the motor and ESC are secured via screws into the heat sink cooling fins.

One thing we would like to see with the factory fitted MJX 14210 ESC would be the ability to program it. Being able to calibrate the throttle punch, adjust the LiPo cut-off voltage like we can with the 10208 bluetooth app would be a very helpful feature. Perhaps this will be something MJX introduce with the inevitable V4?
Radio Equipment
The radio gear included with the MJX 14210 is standard-issue MJX T3B controller and R30 receiver. This controller and receiver combination is MJX's preferred package and is deployed across most of their model range including the hyper go 10208, 14301 and 16208.

The T3B model controller is a functional, responsive and reliable device with decent range, but lacks advanced settings that some more experienced users may want. The controller provides 3 channels (throttle, steering and lights on/off) and has two adjustable trims (throttle trim and steering trim). The on/off power switch serves as a speed-limiter, enabling the 14210 to be restricted down to 70% power with a partial slide of the power switch. This level of functionality is likely OK for most users, but experienced drivers may prefer installing their own radio equipment for greater customisation.

MJX 14210 Battery Life and Charging Options

Battery life is a critical factor in the performance of any RC car. What's the point of having a great RC truck if it only lasts 5 minutes?
Fortunately, the MJX 14210 truck has several battery choices available, some of which provide extended run time for the 14210.
The Hyper Go's 45 amp ESC natively supports both 2S 7.4v batteries as well as 3S 11.1v batteries. The batteries can be either LiPo or Li-on, with LiPo providing the better performance and run-time.

We tested the run time of the MJX 14210 using both 2S and 3S batteries. Testing was performed on short grass with mixed acceleration to provide a good idea of the average run time:

Testing was performed using the batteries that we supply - available to buy here.
The 2S 3000mah LiPo is in our opinion the best battery for the MJX 14210, with impressive run time and solid performance (reaching 37mph top speed). The most powerful battery for the 14210 would be the 3S 2200mAh (47mph). The 2S 3000mAh offers slightly reduced power but ensures extended run time, allowing drivers to enjoy prolonged sessions without frequent battery changes. This extended runtime is a significant advantage for those who enjoy long, continuous driving.

Charging time is often a concern for RC car users. However, the MJX Hyper Go 14210 features a relatively quick charge cycle. This means less waiting and more time driving. The charger included in the 14210 box is the standard MJX Hyper Go USB balance charger. This charger is limited to 800mAh charging output, meaning the 2S 3000mAh battery may take 3-4 hours to charge.

Choosing the right charger is also vital. The included charger with the MJX Hyper Go 14210 is reliable, but you may want to consider alternative chargers for even faster recharge cycles. Using a mains powered fast charger, the 2S 3000mAh battery can be charged in as little as 45 minutes. Check out the charger options here

Tuning and Adjustability

The MJX Hyper Go 14210 can be adjusted to suit different terrain and driving styles. Small changes to the ride configuration can result in big impacts to the handling. Here are components of the MJX 14210 that can be adjusted, or tuned:

  • Shock springs: The 14210 includes both medium and hard shock absorber springs. The medium springs come pre-installed on the car, but the harder springs can be easily swapped out to provide a harder ride.

  • Preload Adjustment: Adjust the 14210 suspension pre-load will control the ride height. For optimal performance, it's recommended to add preload to the rear suspension and leave the front more unloaded. However, there is no perfect answer so definitely experiment based on your terrain and driving style.

  • Shock Oil: The MJX 14210 has oil-filled shock absorbers. The shock oil used can be changed which will result in a change in how the car handles. Whether you want to use thicker oil for slower shock rebound or thinner oil for quicker action, the choice is yours. While the stock setup is great out of the box, tweaking the oil in the rear for slower damping and the front for faster response can be a fun way to further tune the ride.

  • Toe-in on the Front Wheels: The 14210 tie-rods, or turnbuckles allow adjustment to the toe angle. The car comes with a relatively wide toe setting, which is excellent for rough terrain and even drifting, but if you’re aiming for higher speeds, adjusting the toe to a parallel setting will improve handling stability.

MJX 14210 Upgrades

The MJX Hyper Go 14210 offers several upgrade options, allowing drivers to tailor the RC truck to their preferences. This Hyper Go model is already kitted out to a very high standard out the box, and therefore most upgrades for the MJX 14210 will provide an upgrade on appearance only, rather than performance.

For example, the MJX Hyper Go can be upgraded to replace plastic parts with red, blue or grey aluminium alloy parts. Although these parts look very nice, it doesn't mean the truck will any more durable, or that you'll get more speed.
You'd typically think that replacing plastic parts with metal upgrades would provide a big upgrade in durability, but in our experience metal parts offer the same durability as well maintained plastic stock parts. Therefore, any upgrades to the metal are likely to provide only a visual upgrade, but they do look very, very good!
Serious-RC stock our own range of MJX 14210 upgrades available in Red, Blue or Titanium Grey colours. Some 14210 upgrade parts also have subtle but attractive Serious-RC branding applied.

MJX Hyper Go Maintenance Tips

Proper maintenance is key to extending the lifespan of the MJX Hyper Go 14210. Regular cleaning is crucial to remove dust and debris that can accumulate during use.
Lubricate moving parts, such as gears and axles, to ensure smooth operation. Frequent checks and timely replacements of worn-out components will help maintain peak performance. Before using the truck, always check screws are tight. With the speeds the 14210 is capable of, vibration can loosen screws over time so it's imperative to ensure they are tightened.

Final Thoughts - Great Performance and Value for Money

We think the MJX Hyper Go 14210 RC car is a fast, fun to drive remote control car that provides excellent value for both beginners and experienced users. It's proven to be very durable and has high performance that out classes many of the more expensive premium brands. Whether you're out racing on mud, grass or even in a local supermarket car park, this RC car provides a great balance of speed, control, and handling without breaking the bank.

Despite some short comings, like the remote controller not offering advanced features, the newly updated 14210 V3 remains an outstanding option for anyone looking to get into the world of brushless RC cars. The MJX Hyper Go 1/14 scale is incredibility well built and if properly maintained will provide years of fun, making it a standout choice for those who want an affordable yet long lasting RC car.

Our 14210 Recommendation

If you do plan to buy the MJX 14210, our recommendation would be to choose the 2S 7.4V 3000mAh battery package. With this battery, the MJX 14210 truck is still very fast (37mph), but delivers a more balanced and controllable drive compared to the 3S battery, resulting in a much more enjoyable overall experience. With the 2S 7.4v 3000mAh battery, you'll also get the longest run time out of the 14210 (20 plus minutes!).

For the fastest Hyper Go 14210 experience, you should choose the 3S 11.1v type battery which will propel the truck to speeds of 47mph. It should be noted that a 3S 11.1v battery is a lot of power for a model of this size and we recommend only experienced drivers to choose this option.
